You’ve seen it, you’ve wondered about it and now I’m gonna give a little talk through how to pull it off!
It’s actually a bit simpler than you’d think it would be but, admittedly time consuming. The technique comes from being so inspired by Yip.Studios carved cakes. I had a general idea of how she achieves the look and I love geeking out on the technical aspects of cake as art! The inset look was not meant to mimic her style exactly because when it comes to cakes some of my biggest inspirations are works of art in themselves, but also the techniques and tools used to create them. I grew up with an amazing artist for a grandmother- she would experiment with different art styles and mediums on a daily basis. I soaked up so much from her and now I apply it to my decorating style; a subtle homage to her . So, I look outside of the cake supply stores to search through places like Blick set on finding non-conventional cake decorating tools.
