Best thing??? Honestly the funfetti doughnuts I baked just this past weekend. Learned how to finally make that classic, crackly glaze and I'm about to buy a countertop fryer per your recommendation! I guess you could say doughnuts and I? We're getting pretty serious.
ooooof a countertop fryer is a real game changer. I cant believe I was at home frying donuts any other way!! funfetti doughnuts sound amaze! at what point do you add the sprinkles to the dough? I've always had trouble with that and the color bleed!
I didn't add any sprinkles to the dough, just the glaze. I've had some success with adding sprinkles to dough at the very end of kneading, but that was just for baking and not frying.
Oh thanks! I did a chocolate butter pie crust with a custard filling that I mixed some toasted marshmallow into and then topped it with a graham streusel and then piped on some marscapone whipped cream. I think the flavor combo was good, but man, does chocolate pie crust look like literal poop 😝
I love a good cheese sauce, but I also recently made Claire Saffitz’s creamy mustard dip for her brioche pigs in a blanket that I loved. It’s being added into my soft pretzel dip rotation!
Best thing I’ve baked so far this year is a Meyer lemon sour cream cake with whipped cream and lemon curd swirled in! I took Kassie’s delicious sour cream cake with pistachio whip recipe and adapted it to be lemon-based and it was a HUGE hit with my friends and family visiting for the weekend :)
I baked a citrus and olive oil cake with poppyseed chantilly cream (#secretcrunchies!), quince, creme pat, and pistachio swiss meringue buttercream + crumb. These flavours were shamelessly inspired and influenced by Rose and the combination absolutely blew me away. Bread and Roses is unavailable for me to purchase on Amazon in Japan at the moment (I'm living here on 'gap year') so I pieced the bake together using my own basic recipes - but I would absolutely LOVE to remake each element as per her beautiful book. Wonderful interview, thank you Kassie!

PS countertop fryer has been ordered !!!
Just made Natasha Pickowicz's lemon drizzle cake and it was so springy and lovely!
I made a S’more Custard Pie for the Riverside County Fair and I won a blue ribbon!! So objectively, that has to be the best :)
Well, we cant argue with a blue ribbon!! Tell me more about this pie! sounds delish :)

ooooh I love me a soft pretzel, what's your dipping sauce of choice?
I love a good cheese sauce, but I also recently made Claire Saffitz’s creamy mustard dip for her brioche pigs in a blanket that I loved. It’s being added into my soft pretzel dip rotation!

The best thing I've baked so far was a homemade funfetti cake to satisfy a random craving for birthday cake, lol

A birthday cake for a coworker with your chocolate french buttercream and a ton of sprinkles 💛
