This is so helpful, thankyou! I've been baking for a while but am always wandering how to come up with interesting flavours and how to just think outside the box with no pressure.

so happy you found this to be of help! it’s always gonna be a big emphasis on the “no pressure” that’s when you’ll find yourself in the most creative flow. if you’re trying #toohard it never works and all you can muster up is vanilla

I had to go buy The Flavor Bible on your recommendation.

I find a lot of inspiration in reading the cocktail list at bars! Lots of flavor combos I would never think of. I’m also super curious about how you infuse corn into things 👀 especially that curd!

oh I love reading a good cocktail menu for inspo! im always finding combos that make me go huh, I never would have thought of that!!

mostly i’ll infuse cobs into creams, or bags of microwaved popcorn lol. but corn curd is actually super easy, since corn is so starch heavy, as you cook down the juice with a touch of sugar it’ll thicken into a nice custard/curd. just process the kernels down into juice, strain and discard the solids. ad to a pot and cook it downnnnn.

Love this! I completely agree that creativity is a muscle and it needs to be built up, but I think people would be surprised at how quickly it happens! Once you start paying attention to flavour combinations and thinking about how you might play around with them you'll notice inspiration everywhere. I have a little doc that's just little flavour combinations I'd like to try based on meals I've eaten, things I've seen on ig, etc. and it's so nice to return to it when I want some inspo.
